Effective May 1, 2008, Clariant Brasil will no longer be the local partner of Kuraray Group in Brazil. Kuraray America, Inc. must adjust the prices for PVOH Resin (Kuraray Poval / Mowiol) by USD 0.15 per dry pound. The adjustment will be effective on April 1, 2008, or as existing contracts allow.

Kuraray has launched two new low Mw carboxylated PVOH: SD-1000 and OTP-5. Carboxylated PVOH is often used in the paper industry utilizing the cross-linking function. SD-1000 and OTP-5 are specially designed for "high solid content" coatings to meet the needs of the market. Beginning January 1, 2008, Kuraray America, Inc. will need to adjust prices for MOWITAL (PVB) by 10% due to a dramatic cost increase in raw materials over the past two years.
